Tom Story at Evolution Fitness: Finding Fitness, Calm, and Consistency

When Tom Dunne joined Evolution Fitness in March 2024, his goal was simple: get back into shape, improve his fitness, and find an outlet for his mind. After a few years of inactivity, he wanted to reintroduce exercise into his routine—not just for the physical fitness benefits but also for how it made him feel mentally.

“I find it great for the mind,” Tom says. “For that hour, you’re shut out from everything else that’s going on. Plus, the way I feel after a gym session—buzzing for an hour—it’s brilliant.”

Now, months into his journey, Tom has made incredible progress, proving that taking that first step is often the hardest but most rewarding part.

Taking the Leap

Like many, Tom was unsure about what to expect when he joined. After years of not exercising, the idea of starting fresh felt daunting.

“To be very honest, I didn’t know what to expect when I was joining. But after the first Personal Training session and fitness class, I knew it was the place for me. Such a good vibe, and the trainers are top class—they go above and beyond to help you.”

That leap of faith paid off, and Tom quickly found himself feeling right at home in the supportive environment gym at Evolution Fitness.

Progress in Mind and Body

Since joining, Tom has seen significant improvements in both his physical and mental well-being.

“My mind is a lot calmer, and I have way more energy since starting. Plus, I’ve gotten stronger and into good shape.”

From lifting heavier weights to feeling more energised in his day-to-day life, Tom’s progress is a testament to his consistency and hard work.

Consistency is Key

Tom’s biggest accomplishment is something simple but vital: showing up consistently. Week after week, he sticks to his three sessions, and the results speak for themselves.

“I’m consistent every week, sticking to my three days. Even my bench press is improving, and lifting good weight feels like a great achievement. It just shows progress is being made every week.”

Challenges and Triumphs

Of course, every fitness journey has its challenges. For Tom, the hardest part was making that initial decision to join.

“The biggest challenge for me was making that move to join because I hadn’t done anything in two or three years. But it was the best move I ever made—joining Evolution Tralee was the best fitness decision I’ve ever made.”

Once he took that first step, everything started falling into place.

Looking Ahead

Tom’s focus for the future is simple but powerful: stay consistent and keep pushing himself.

“I just love doing new exercises and pushing myself the whole time. My main ambition is to stay consistent, and I know everything will fall into place.”

With this mindset, Tom is set to keep building on his progress and enjoying the journey along the way.

Advice to Anyone Thinking About Starting

If you’re considering starting your own fitness journey but feel unsure, Tom’s advice is clear:

“Just join. I’ve never felt as relaxed and comfortable in a gym before. The trainers are super professional and always push you more, but they’re also such good characters and up for a laugh. It just makes training easier when the coaches are top quality.”
