When Joan Forde moved to Tralee, she knew she wanted to find a training facility that met her needs—somewhere that would challenge her, keep her motivated, and support her through any obstacles.
Fast forward to today, and she’s found exactly that at Evolution Fitness. More than just a gym, it’s become a place where she feels energised, challenged, and ready to take on new goals.
A New Beginning in a New Place
Finding a gym after relocating isn’t always easy, but Joan knew she wanted a space that pushed her forward while keeping her comfortable.
“I had recently moved to Tralee and was looking for a training facility to meet my needs. Evolution has certainly done that.”
At Evolution, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that is welcoming, motivating, and built for progress.
A Gym That Feels Different
One of the biggest things Joan noticed was the relaxed and encouraging atmosphere—a space where people work hard but feel supported every step of the way.
“I find that there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the gym which gets the best out of people. I’m challenged but loving the challenge.”
Training should push you, but it should also feel rewarding—and for Joan, it’s exactly that.
Staying Motivated and Energised
Showing up consistently is one of the biggest struggles for people starting their fitness journey, but Joan has found herself motivated and committed.
“I’m very happy that I’m motivated to show up for and enjoy training. I always come out feeling energised.”
That post-training energy boost is what keeps so many of our members coming back week after week.
Overcoming Physical Challenges
No fitness journey is without its struggles, and Joan has faced a few physical challenges along the way. But she’s learned that consistency is key to working through them.
“I’ve had a few physical challenges but have been consistent in dealing with them as they arise.”
At Evolution, training is adapted to work with you, not against you. Whether it’s an injury, mobility limitation, or just learning what works best for your body, we make sure you stay moving in a way that feels good.
Setting Big Goals for the Future
Joan isn’t just here for the short-term—she’s looking ahead and setting goals that will keep her motivated and progressing.
“I want to continue to get stronger and improve my flexibility and balance. Into the future, I would like to climb Carrauntoohil!”
That’s what training is all about—building a body that allows you to do the things you love. Whether that’s hiking, running, lifting, or simply moving through life with more strength and confidence, fitness is a tool for living better.
Advice for Anyone on the Fence About Starting
For anyone unsure about starting their fitness journey, Joan’s advice is simple:
“The first step is always the hardest. Once you get in the door, everything else seems much more manageable. Being in the gym on a consistent basis is good for mind, body, and spirit. Take that step—I assure you, your future self will thank you.”
Practicing What She Preaches
As a therapeutic counsellor, Joan knows firsthand the connection between physical and mental health.
“It’s always been part of the process of my practice to advocate physical health. I practice what I preach.”
At Evolution Fitness, we understand that training isn’t just about getting stronger—it’s about feeling better in every aspect of life.
